The hotfix rhinestones are applied to fabrics by heat with an iron or an applicator. If we want to apply rhinestones on surfaces other than fabrics, knits or fabrics (mobile phones, covers, mice, usb pens, computers, mp3s, lighters, pens, various electronic gadgets, ... in short, non-porous surfaces that do not absorb the glue present on the rhinestones: objects made of metal, plastic or wood ...) the glue present on the rhinestone is not strong enough to hold up for a long time, especially following bumps or falls of the object.

 Someone recommends using cyanoacrylate glue (attack type), I used it for some jobs but it didn't give me the desired strength and could damage the brilliance of the rhinestones. For a long time I switched to two-component epoxy glue and I find it the best solution, there are two types of UHU: with a fast setting 5min or the one that hardens in 2-12 hours based on the ambient temperature. There are also other specific glues for jewelery or costume jewelery but for the moment we are talking about the two-component from which I have had excellent results.

To do this work, as I said, flat rhinestones are always used, the same hotfix rhinestones that we use for fabrics can be used or rhinestones without glue; the former are more easily found on the market and have the advantage of double use. According to the kind of work we have do, spread a very thin layer of glue on the surface with the spatula or with a flat synthetic brush; or we apply the glue in small isolated points (with a toothpick, a needle ...) for decorations with scattered rhinestones. Then take a wooden toothpick, cover the tip with beeswax (a very small piece is enough), with this tool we can take the rhinestones and apply them; alternatively we use tweezers like the one for the eyelashes. It is important that, before applying the glue, the surface is clean and degreased.
