A few days ago I read, in a comment to a blog article, about Liu-Jo stretch jeans, about the fact that after a while they wear out and tear especially on the back, especially on the central seam.
I am heartened to know that it is not only due to the fact that I have gained weight because I too have a Liu-jo stretch jeans that have by now worn out and, to avoid the risk of leaving me in my underwear in the literal sense, for some time I don't wear anymore. But today I had an inspiration to be able to wear these jeans again without resorting to the usual patch, internal or external, of which I already have a rich sample in my old jeans that I cannot give up, and which, among other things, is not easy to do on stretch jeans.
Stretch jeans in general, not only Liu-Jo ones, especially if they are light, wear out at the points of greatest adherence, therefore seat and front thigh; with the following photo tutorial you will see how to fix these small damages, and wear the jeans at least another season. The method is to be used only for worn and torn parts without open tears.
Here's my worn jeans ... and ripped close to the seam.

Cos'è questa macchia nera informe?
It is thermo-adhesive polyurethane, it is used to create transferable writings for t-shirts and you can also find it in my shop by clicking on the text in evidence; they are leftovers, shapeless cutouts (because I don't throw away anything that can be used in some way) but they can be cut according to a cute design such as a heart, a flower, or simply by cutting out with greater care than I did for the anxious to see if the idea was feasible; in reality we don't see anything outside ... but why not satisfy our eyes?

Let's get to the point. If you put the jeans against the light you can see where the fabric is most worn, mark the area with a chalk to have a reference when you go to work on the table.

Cut out a piece of PU from the
necessary size or a drawing that in any case covers the entire marked area.
Smooth out the fabric well at least for an area the size of the iron plate, overlap a piece of baking paper and place the iron at a temperature of about 170 ° - wool - (you can also give a little more for the jeans) for 15-20 seconds.

If it is not perfectly flat, the PU may not stick in some points, but we can remedy this problem by lifting the jeans and touching the areas that have not gripped the plate directly ... please protect your hand because the heat passes easily on lightweight fabric.
You can also remove the paper and place the iron in direct contact with the PU for a few seconds but this will make it shiny in some places (if there is no transfer film on it).
In this regard, I must point out that normally the polyurethane is on a heat-resistant film that must be removed after application, but my scraps are the remnant of writing that I had made and peeled therefore without protection on the surface.
This is the final result, not beautiful, but I'm sure it's functional. I will be able to confirm this in a few weeks after I have worn and washed it.

The future ironing will have to be done with caution in these points so as not to make the PU stick to the other part of the jeans, but with the usual baking paper this obstacle is also overcome.
Now I show you the worn result and ... er: $ ... sorry shoulders ...

See you at the next Eklektika Inspiration.
