Here is another project with the thin felt cloth, a pink tulip. For now he is sad and alone, he waits for the arrival of 5 other siblings of yellow, light blue, orange, purple and light green to be placed, all beautifully aligned, in a rectangular jar.
To do this I used a technique that I called corrugated felt (or corrugated cloth); the cloth is bent and / or three-dimensionally rounded with the thread stitching and waves are formed on the edges.
Open is a little more cheerful because you can see the yellow of the pistils, but an open tulip seems to have faded.
Materials and tools: felt cloth of the color you prefer, of the green color (if you want to make green stem and leaves) and of the yellow color for the base on which to apply the pistils; scissors; hot glue gun; needle and sewing threads of the color of the cloth; beads of conteria; wire.
From the green cloth, cut two rectangles about 15x3 cm, one about 24x1.5 cm; from the pink cloth cut three 7x5 cm and three 7x6 cm rectangles. Fold the pink rectangles in half (from the longest side) and cut out the petals in the shape of an egg, making a diagonal cut (to make the double tip); on the green cloth cut out in the shape of a spear.
Thread the needle with the green thread and starting from the tip make small stitches, such as basting, along the edge and at a distance of about 1mm, the thread should always be pulled a little; arrived at the center of the base, pull the thread as much as necessary to give the wavy shape, without curling too much, and pass the same point twice to stop the thread; continue also on the other side to return to the tip, pull the wire again to undulate and fasten the wire again; Now run along the center, this time there is no need to pull the thread, the stitching has a decorative and non-functional character. Take the cloth and the pink thread, do the same topstitching work without doing the central one.
Take the hot glue gun and put a drop of glue on a skewer toothpick (the tip without the tip), glue, holding it diagonally, the short side of the long rectangle of green cloth. Putting a strip of glue of 2 cm at a time (otherwise the glue dries immediately and does not grip well) continue to glue the cloth in a spiral along the toothpick, leave the tip free because it will serve to insert the flower into the vase.
Cut out a rectangle of yellow cloth and glue it from the side without the point; make the pistils with the iron wire and the beads. Instead of iron wire (more difficult to work) you can use thread and needle, the important thing is that the thread has consistency and keeps the pistils straight. If you decide to use iron wire, make a hole with the needle on the cloth so that it passes more easily without bending considering that inside the cloth you will also find the glue.
At the end, always with hot glue, first glue the three smaller petals then the three largest, finally the leaves.
As I said, this flower, considering its simplicity, is cute if together with other flowers of different colors it helps to create a composition, rather than being alone.
