This dress was made for a shop window, but we can also paint this fabric to make stoles, scarves, shirts, skirts ... The method I am going to illustrate to paint organza can also be used for other light fabrics such as for example chiffon ...

dress in handpainted organzaTo hand-paint organza, a fabric of thin thread and relatively large weft, it is not advisable to lean on a surface but it is preferable to use a frame on a vertical easel; 4 wooden boards and a few nails are enough to make the frame or (if the fabric is wide), as I did, you can use the upper part of a wooden pallet, the ones used for the transport of goods, removing the central axes and leaving only the frame. The frame must be as wide as the fabric or a little less; the fabric must be very taut and can be fixed with three-pointed drawing pins, placed very close together in order to distribute the tension and prevent the fabric from tearing in the points where it is fixed or we can use sheet clamps. The hardest part is the preparatory part of fixing, after which it's all fun. The painting that I made does not need preparatory drawings, it is enough to have an overview of what we want to create and to give very free brushstrokes without worrying too much; in this work at the end the color was also splashed on the 'canvas'. The fabric color should not be very diluted and the brush should not be too full of color; the color passes easily on the back and every now and then we have to remember to brush the back of the design, to redistribute the color before it dries up and stiffens the fabric too much in those points. Once the painting is finished and the color has dried, we can remove the fabric from the frame and iron it to fix the color by following the instructions on the color we used.

Ciao, un' informazione per cortesia. Il tessuto di cui parli è un'organza di seta? Ho visto in commercio anche organze sintetiche..quale tipo di colori potrei utilizzare per dipingerle? Grazie in anticipo
